Threading Tools

Threading Tools are precision cutting tools designed to create internal or external threads on a workpiece using a lathe, milling machine, or threading machine. These tools form threads by either cutting, rolling, or tapping, depending on the method and material. Threading tools are available in both indexable insert types and solid tools, and are essential in manufacturing parts with threaded features such as bolts, nuts, fittings, and fasteners.

Features :

  • Thread Profiles: ISO Metric, UN, NPT, BSP, ACME, Trapezoidal, etc.
  • Material: Typically made from carbide, HSS, or cermet
  • Insert Grades: Coated or uncoated grades for steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or hardened materials
  • Indexable Inserts: Economical with multiple cutting edges
  • Forming vs. Cutting: Thread forming displaces material (no chip); thread cutting removes material
